Lake Como to The Cotswolds | An Elopement & Celebration

From an elopement in Lake Como to a celebration in the cotswolds, this was a wedding told in two chapters

Alice and Alex’s wedding unfolded across two locations and two distinct moods: a private elopement on Lake Como, followed by a relaxed yet considered celebration at their home in the Cotswolds. Rather than approaching the wedding as a single event, the experience was designed to unfold over time — allowing space for intimacy, anticipation, and shared celebration.

The result was a destination wedding in Europe that transitioned naturally into a UK wedding, connected through atmosphere and storytelling.

LAKE COMO: STILLNESS, SCALE AND SIMPLICITY

Their opening chapter took place on Lake Como, chosen for its sense of calm and cinematic scale. Steep green mountains, expansive water, and soft light shaped the rhythm of the elopement weekend, creating an environment that felt removed from everyday pace.

Alice and Alex moved across the lake by a classic Riva boat, arriving and departing via quiet jetties and stone steps. Time was spent slowly — on the water, at the refined Villa del Balbianello, and the Grand Hotel Tremezzo within the landscape itself. The setting required very little intervention; its restraint was part of its power.

RETURNING HOME TO THE COUNTRYSIDE

Their celebration continued in the UK, hosted at the couple’s Cotswolds home. A beautiful wedding tent was installed in the garden, positioned to sit comfortably alongside the house rather than compete with it.

As evening fell, the boundaries between inside and out softened. The house and tent became a single environment — gently lit, intimate, and familiar. The shift from their Lake Como elopement to their English countryside celebration was clear, but the experience felt cohesive rather than contrasting.

STYLING WITH RESTRAINT & INTENTION

Across both locations, the styling was understated and precise. In Lake Como, the focus was on silhouette, movement, and proportion, allowing the natural surroundings to remain dominant. Fashion-forward choices were balanced with simplicity, resulting in imagery that felt timeless rather than styled.

In the Cotswolds, materials and textures played a greater role. Natural wood, soft greenery, and layered lighting added depth to the tented space without excess. A cinema room was created inside their house — a quiet reference to the groom’s career in film — reinforcing the idea of the wedding as a story unfolding rather than a themed event.

AN EVENING DESIGNED AROUND EXPERIENCE

Guests arrived in the Cotswolds expecting a celebration, unaware that Alice and Alex had already eloped. The evening began with a private screening of the Lake Como elopement film, shown in the cinema room before dinner.

From there, the atmosphere shifted naturally into a sensory tasting menu with a paired wine flight. The focus was on flow rather than formality, encouraging guests to settle into the evening at an unhurried pace. As the night progressed, the celebration moved easily between spaces — from dinner to music, from the tent back into the house — continuing late into the evening.

A WEDDING THAT UNFOLDED NATURALLY

Alice and Alex’s elopement was the perfect start to a magnificent wedding celebration, that not only reflected their style but also embraced and reflected both their private and shared worlds.

We were so lucky to have been part of their story and what started as a dream ended in a wedding celebration that felt resolved and unforced. Private where it needed to be, generous where it mattered, and carefully paced throughout, the experience honoured them both as a couple on their own and as a key part in all the lives that they are a part of.
